Hi crafty friends! My name is Jessica Van Wagner and I was so excited when Lisa Marie asked me to share my celestial canvas project on her blog. For this canvas I did a pour painting technique using several ColoriQue colors.
This is my first attempt at doing a pour technique, using ColoriQue, so it was a bit of trial and error. I added the Black Diamond, Verdigris, Turquoise Mountain, Pacific Ocean, one by one into a cup. Now because ColoriQue colors blend so well the colors ended up blending together as I as pouring them out of the cup. *failed* pour technique! LOL But I was pleasantly surprised when the ink dried, I did have this stunning effect that looked like something from dark space.
*Note: Because ColoriQue colors blend so well, it is best to only add one or two colors to a cup. Lay the cup on its side and add a strip of color, then add a strip of ColoriQue sealant next to it. Add the next color next to the sealant. Slowly pour the colors out. You can also keep each color in its own cup, adding the color the same way, with the sealant and then pouring out the color and then the next color. This helps keep the colors from blending together.
Step 2: I covered the entire canvas with ColorBox® Opalescent Clear Embossing powder and then heat set it. Several of the spots, I heated until they bubbled, to create different colors and texture on the canvas.
Step 3: To create the flickering stars, I used a paintbrush to flick ColorBox® ColoriQue Snow Summit onto to the canvas. Applied heat to dry. For the lettering, I used Snow Summit also. Because I was going over such a dark color and wanted the white lettering to really pop, I did 4 coats of the white on the letters. Allowing each coat to dry completely before adding the next.
Step 4: Next I lightly spritzed ColorBox® Pearl Rain over the entire canvas and then heat set, using minimal heat.
Step 5: For a touch of sparkle, I added rhinestone to the canvas using glue.

This project was so so fun to make, but a messy one, so make sure you lots of paper towels on hand! Even though my original method of doing the pour technique was not what I planned, I love the end results. Sometimes mistakes turn into the best projects!! This one sure did.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope that I have inspired you to make your own pour painting canvas.
