Hello! Larissa here today and I’m so excited to share a lovely wall hanging that combines amazing products from Walnut Hollow and U Paint Crafts. They were so generous and I looked forward to using these beautiful products in my project and sharing them with all of you. I received the Rustic Frame from Walnut Hollow. I also received the U-Paint Crafts metal moon from the Sun and Moon set.
I have always loved the moon and from the time my boys have been little, I have read them Good Night Moon. We say, “I love you to the moon and back,” all the time. My oldest son, Beckett, has a sign with our sweet saying in his room and Greyson has always wanted one for his room too. That is the inspiration behind this project.
I started by Painting the Rustic Frame with a coat of white primer. I knew I was going for a galaxy inspired scene so I thought white would be a good base.
I used the ColorBox art daubers to apply the ColoriQue ink in Honey Bee, Pink Ice, Wisteria, Grape Vine, Verdigris, Pacific Ocean and Turquoise Mountain to give my night sky the variation in colors seen in photographs. Then I applied the Black Diamond ColoriQue Ink all over the frame, pouncing it over the other colors to mute and blend them into each other.
Now this step will start out looking horrible and will make you question how it will turn out. Trust me though, if you just stick with it you’ll end up with something amazing!! ColoriQue Ink makes it so easy and the colors layer and blend over one another so easily. To add to the Galaxy look, I added some splatters of Snow Summit ColoriQue Ink and some Gold Lamé Smooch splatters for a metallic shine. I really love the look and dimension it gives to the sky in real life.
Next, I added the sentiment with a paint pen using the U-Paint Crafts Metal Moon as part of my quote. I mixed some Honey Bee ColoriQue Ink and Snow Summit ColoriQue Ink to create a pale yellow color to paint the moon. In fact ColoriQue is so easy to use that Greyson painted the Moon with a little help from me!
After the moon had dried completely, I decided to add some life to the moon by painting the cheek, lips and the eye. I mixed Pink Ice with Snow Summit to get the color for the cheek and the lips, and Pacific Ocean for the eye.
I wanted some texture on the moon so that it resembled a real moon. I used sand paper in a small circular motion and glued the moon to the Rustic Frame. I decided to add some stamped and embossed stars to finish off the design. I stamped in ColorBox Top Boss Embossing Ink and used the ColorBox Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder.
I hope you were inspired by my project today and that you’ll give the amazing products from Walnut Hollow and U Paint Crafts a try with your ColoriQue Inks. Beautiful creations await you. What stories inspire your art?
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous week!
