We have finally reached the finale of our Fractured Fairy Tale collaboration with ColoriQue Ink and Relics & Artifacts®! We left Cindy reminiscing with her daughter and reveling in all of the treasures life had blessed her with over the last ten years. But did she really receive her “happily ever after”?
Cindy, Punk Prince, and darling daughter Rose were on the final leg of the concert tour. Road weary, exhausted, and ready to sleep in her normal bed at home, Cindy headed to the tour bus to relax during the intermission. When she opened the door of the bus, imagine her shock, horror and surprise to see dear old Punk Princey-poo “playing the strings” of some random groupie!
Shocked and completely shattered, Cindy threw the groupie out of the bus with barely a sheet to cover herself up and delivered one heck of a slap to her “darling husband”. “How could you?!” she exclaimed as mascara streamed down her face. She could feel her heart breaking yet hardening all at the same time.
Apparently, the idyllic life she thought she had was just a fairy tale. It didn’t matter what reasons he had, the relationship was over as far as she was concerned. She stormed back into the arena and picked up Rose from the caretaker. With suitcases in hand, she purchased two first class tickets and headed home. She had plans to make, after all.
Cindy had time on the flight to gather thoughts and figure out her plan. Her old resolve and fortitude began to kick in, much like they did growing up in that vile household with her stepmother and stepsisters.
Not one to wallow in self pity, she realized action was her best companion and with that, she listed all of Punk Prince’s exquisite guitars on eBay. Imagine her surprise when they sold via “buy it now” for 10’s of thousands a pop within minutes! She smiled a coy smile and began auctioning off all sorts of memorabilia. There were a few things she wanted to keep.
Not all of the memories were bad. There were some good times to be remembered and they all started with those amazing shoes.
The concerts, the memories, and of course her daughter were all treasures gained from a brief time of true happiness. How could she part with such reminders?
She looked at her sleeping daughter who had so many questions she wasn’t ready to answer and wiped the tears from her face. She knew the one thing she couldn’t do was to harden her heart. She had to persevere with grace, dignity, and love. While her heart was most certainly guarded, it was still burning with love for Rose.
The next morning, the Punk Prince returned to an empty home, devoid of love (and his precious guitars). He had made the biggest mistake of his life. Cindy had left and he knew she would keep flying toward the horizon, leaving him and their life together in the dust.
