This Blinging Little Frame is so cute and easy to make.
You see them in the bargain bins all the time, those cute little picture frames. They are usually in white or black, sometimes they may be a bright color you would never use. You want to get one, but they are either blah or the wrong color for your decor. This frame was one of those blah white frames, but it caught my eye because of it’s detail. I just had to purchase it because I knew I would fix it up, plus it was only $1.00! Let’s see how I made this Blinging Little Picture Frame:
For this project I chose to use aquamarine iridescent gel medium, gold paint and rhinestone chain to add bling to this little frame. Now I look for these frames in the bargain bins, to make as gifts. This frame now sits on my desk with a picture of my Little Princess Tiffany in it.
Materials & Supplies:
Bargain Bin Frame
3.6mm Crystal Cupchain
Ann Butler Iridescents ~ Aquamarine
Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber ~ Gold
2. When aquamarine is completely dry, put a small of gold paint on brush. Lightly brush the gold paint onto the frame to highlight the detailed areas. Start out with a light coat first, if you desire a heavier gold accent, add more. Set aside to dry.
3. To measure the amount of cupchain needed, place the chain around the inside of the frame, on the ledge. The cupchain rhinestones can be spaced out or pushed together, like I have done. Once you have measured the amount needed, cut the chain. Using a toothpick add E6000 glue around the edge of the frame. Place the chain on the glue. Position the chain, so that it is even and straight, as once it dries you will not be able to move it.
4. Once dry, place the plastic/glass inside the frame and add your favorite picture. I added a picture of my little yorkie, Tiffany. This frame now sits on my work bench.
Remember next time you see this little frames in the bargain bins, pick one up and make one for yourself or a gift. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
